The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the call to prayer is given, none of you should rush to it. Walk with calmness and dignity. Pray what you catch with the congregation, and make up what you missed."
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Bukhari related something similar to it, 1/163, in the chapter on adhan, "One should not rush to prayer, but..." Muslim also related it, 1/421, no. 602, in the chapter on mosques, on the recommendation of coming to prayer with dignity. Nasai related it as well, 2/114, no. 861, in the chapter on hurrying to prayer, as did Malik and Ibn Khuzayma, 2/134, no. 1065.
