Shurayh bin Hani reported,

I asked Ayesha , "Tell me of a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ whom I may ask about wiping over the leather socks."She replied, "Go to Ali and ask him, for he used to stay close to the Prophet ﷺ."So I went to Ali and asked him. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to wipe over our leather socks whenever we traveled."

عن المقدام بن شريح عن أبيه قال

سألت عائشة رضي الله عنها فقلت أخبريني برجل من أصحاب النبي ﷺ أسأله عن المسح على الخفين فقالت ائت عليا رضي الله عنه فسله فإنه كان يلزم النبي ﷺ قال فأتيت عليا رضي الله عنه فسألته فقال أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ بالمسح على خفافنا إذا سافرنا
