A married man who had committed adultery was brought to Ali. He flogged him a hundred lashes on Thursday, then stoned him on Friday.Someone said to him, "You have combined two punishments against him."Ali replied, "I flogged him by the Book of Allah and stoned him by the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."

Its isnad is sahih. Ismail bin Salim Asadi is trustworthy and firmly reliable. This hadith is a longer version of 839 with some variation, since the one on whom the punishment was carried out there is Sharaha Hamdaniyyah. See the following hadith.
