A young man from Quraysh came to Abu Hurayrah strutting proudly in a fine garment.Abu Hurayrah said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There was a man among those who lived before you who walked with arrogance in his fine garment, admiring his thick hair and his two cloaks, when Allah caused the earth to swallow him. He will keep sinking into it until the Day of Resurrection.'"
حدثنا عفان قال حدثنا حماد بن سلمة قال حدثنا ثابت
أن فتى من قريش أتى أبا هريرة يتبختر في حلة له فقال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن رجلا ممن كان قبلكم كان يتبختر في حلة له قد أعجبته جمته وبرداه إذ خسف به الأرض فهو يتجلجل فيها حتى تقوم الساعة
