A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, my wife has given birth to a black boy."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you have any camels?"He replied, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What are their colors?"He said, "Reddish-grey."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do any of them come out dusky?"He said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "How do you account for that?"He replied, "I think it is a strain reaching back to an ancestor."The Prophet ﷺ said, "And this too may be a strain reaching back to an ancestor."
حدثنا محمد بن مصعب حدثنا مالك بن أنس عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب
أن رجلا أتى النبي ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله إن امرأتي ولدت غلاما أسود فقال هل لك من إبل قال نعم قال فما ألوانها قال رمك قال النبي ﷺ أربما ليس جاءت بالبعير الأورق قال يا رسول الله نعم قال فأنى ترى ذلك قال أراه نزعه عرق فقال النبي ﷺ وهذا نزعه عرق
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related it in 7/68, in the chapter on divorce, when denying paternity of a child, and Muslim in 2/1137, number 1500, in the chapter on lian, and Abu Dawud in 2/278, number 2260, in the chapter on divorce, when there is doubt about a child, and Tirmidhi in 4/439, number 2128, in the chapter on inheritance rights, concerning a man who disowns his child, and he said, hasan sahih, and Nasai in 6/178, number 3478, and Ibn Majah in 1/645, number 2002.
