He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade going out to meet caravans bringing goods to market. If someone buys from such a caravan, the owner of the goods retains the right to cancel the sale once the goods reach the market."
حدثنا أحمد بن عبد الملك قال حدثنا عبيد الله بن عمرو عن أيوب عن ابن سيرين
قال نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن يتلقى الجلب فإن ابتاع مبتاع فصاحب السلعة بالخيار إذا وردت السوق
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Muslim reported it with this wording, 3/1156, no. 1519, in the book of business transactions, on the prohibition of meeting traders before they reach the market. Abu Dawud reported it, 3/269, no. 3437, in the book of hiring, on meeting traders before the market. Tirmidhi reported it, 3/515, no. 1221, in the book of business transactions, on what has been said regarding the dislike of meeting traders before the market, and he said, hasan gharib.
