The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best charity is that given out of surplus wealth, and begin with those whose support is your responsibility."
حدثنا يعمر بن بشر حدثنا عبد الله قال أخبرنا يونس عن الزهري قال أخبرني سعيد بن المسيب أنه
إن رسول الله ﷺ قال خير الصدقة ما كان عن ظهر غنى وابدأ بمن تعول
Its isnad is sahih. It has already appeared at 7727, and Yamar bin Bishr, the teacher of Ahmad and Ibn Abu Shayba, was deemed reliable by Ibn Hibban and others. The hadith was also transmitted by Bukhari 2/139, Muslim in zakat 95, Abu Dawud 40, Nasai 5/62, Abdul-Razzaq 16404, and Ibn Abu Shayba 3/212.
