The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No servant is wounded in the cause of Allah, and Allah knows best who is truly wounded in His cause, except that he will come on the Day of Resurrection with his wound the color of blood and its scent the scent of musk."
حدثنا عبد الصمد بن حسان قال أخبرنا سفيان عن الأعمش عن ذكوان
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا يكلم عبد في سبيل الله والله أعلم بمن يكلم في سبيله يجيء جرحه يوم القيامة لونه لون دم وريحه ريح مسك
Its isnad is sahih, it previously occurred at 9160, and his statement "if he said it" is not meant to cast doubt but rather to absolve responsibility.
