Shurayh bin Hani reported,

I asked Ayesha about wiping over the leather socks. She said, "Go to Ali , for he knows more about that than I do."So I went to Ali and asked him about wiping over the leather socks.He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us to wipe over the leather socks for one day and night for the resident, and for three days for the traveler."

عن شريح بن هانئ قال

سألت عائشة رضي الله عنها عن المسح فقالت ائت عليا رضي الله عنه فهو أعلم بذلك مني قال فأتيت عليا رضي الله عنه فسألته عن المسح على الخفين قال فقال كان رسول الله ﷺ يأمرنا أن نمسح على الخفين يوما وليلة وللمسافر ثلاثا
