The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah prescribed Friday upon those who came before us, but they differed concerning it, and Allah guided us to it. So the people follow us in this matter. The Jews have the day after tomorrow, and the Christians the day after that."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا همام حدثنا قتادة أن عبد الرحمن مولى أم برثن حدث
قال رسول الله ﷺ كتب الله الجمعة على من كان قبلنا فاختلفوا وهدانا الله لها فالناس لنا فيها تبع فلليهود غد وللنصارى بعد غد
Its isnad is sahih. It has already appeared at 7213, and Abdul-Rahman, the freedman of Umm Barthun, the keeper of the watering place, is trustworthy. Bukhari 2/382, no. 896 (Fath), in "Friday," "Should women who did not attend the Friday prayer perform ghusl?" and Muslim 2/586, no. 855, in "Friday," "The guidance of this nation to the day of Friday," transmitted the hadith with similar wording.
