He said, and I only know it from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Isa saw a man stealing and said to him, 'So-and-so, did you steal?' The man replied, 'No, by Allah, I did not steal.' Isa said, 'I believe in Allah and disbelieve my own eyes.'"
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن حميد الطويل عن الحسن وغيره
قال ولا أعلمه إلا عن النبي ﷺ قال رأى عيسى عليه السلام رجلا يسرق فقال له يا فلان أسرقت قال لا والله ما سرقت قال آمنت بالله وكذبت بصري
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related it, 4/204, in the Beginning of Creation, and also mention in the Book, Mary, something similar, and Muslim in the Virtues, the Virtues of Isa, 4/1838, no. 2368, and Nasai, 8/249, no. 5427, and Ibn Majah, in the Expiations, Whoever Is Sworn to by Allah Should Be Satisfied, 1/679, no. 2102.
