Abu Hurairah reported,

The Prophet ﷺ finished the dawn prayer one day, then went to the women in the mosque, stood before them, and said, "Women, I have never seen any with deficient intellect and religion more capable of robbing sensible men of their reason than you. I have seen that you make up the majority of the people of the Fire on the Day of Resurrection, so draw near to Allah as much as you are able."Among the women was the wife of Abdullah bin Masud. She went to Abdullah bin Masud and told him what she had heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and she took out some jewelry of hers.Ibn Masud asked, "Where are you taking this jewelry?"She replied, "I want to draw near to Allah عز وجل and His Messenger through it, hoping that Allah will not place me among the people of the Fire."He said, "Woe to you, come here and give it as charity to me and to my children, for we are deserving of it."She said, "No, by Allah, not until I take it to the Prophet ﷺ."So she went to seek permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ.They said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Messenger of Allah, this is Zaynab seeking permission."He asked, "Which Zaynab is it?"They said, "The wife of Abdullah bin Masud."He said, "Let her in."She came in to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I heard something from you, so I went back to Ibn Masud and told him about it, and I took out some jewelry to draw near to Allah and to you, hoping that Allah would not place me among the people of the Fire. Then Ibn Masud said to me, 'Give it as charity to me and to my children, for we are deserving of it.' So I said, 'Not until I ask the Prophet's permission.'"The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give it as charity to him and to his sons, for they are deserving of it."Then she said, "Messenger of Allah, what about what I heard from you when you stood before us, that you have never seen any with deficient intellect and religion more capable of robbing sensible men of their reason than us. Messenger of Allah, what is the deficiency of our religion and our intellect?"He said, "As for what I mentioned about the deficiency of your religion, it is the menstruation that comes upon you. One of you remains for as long as Allah wills, neither praying nor fasting, and that is from the deficiency of your religion. As for what I mentioned about the deficiency of your intellect, it is your testimony, for the testimony of a woman is only half of a testimony."
