The Prophet ﷺ said, "A vow brings nothing to the son of Adam that Allah has not already decreed for him. Rather, the vow simply coincides with what is destined, and through it something is extracted from the miser that he otherwise would not have been willing to give."
حدثنا سليمان أنبأنا إسماعيل أخبرني عمرو عن عبد الرحمن الأعرج
أن النبي ﷺ قال إن النذر لا يقرب من ابن آدم شيئا لم يكن الله قدره له ولكن النذر موافق القدر فيخرج بذلك من البخيل ما لم يكن البخيل يريد أن يخرج
