The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not make my grave a place of festival, and do not turn your houses into graves. Wherever you may be, send blessings upon me, for your blessings reach me."
حدثنا سريج قال حدثنا عبد الله بن نافع عن ابن أبي ذئب عن سعيد المقبري
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا تتخذوا قبري عيدا ولا تجعلوا بيوتكم قبورا وحيثما كنتم فصلوا علي فإن صلاتكم تبلغني
Its chain of transmission is hasan. Abdul-Razzaq narrated it with this wording, 2/577, no. 6726, in the chapter on funerals, sending greetings of peace at the grave of the Prophet ﷺ, and Ibn Abu Shayba, 2/375, in the chapter on prayers, praying at the grave of the Prophet ﷺ. It is also found with the same meaning in Bukhari, 1/119, in the chapter on prayer, the dislike of praying in graveyards, and in Muslim, 1/538, no. 777, in the chapter on the prayer of travelers, the recommendation of performing voluntary prayer in one's house.
