The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah is pleased with three things for you and displeased with three things for you. He is pleased that you worship Him and associate nothing with Him, that you hold fast all together to the rope of Allah and not be divided, and that you give sincere counsel to those whom Allah has placed in authority over you. He is displeased with idle talk, squandering wealth, and excessive questioning."
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim reported it (3/1340, no. 1715) in the Book of Judgments, chapter on prohibiting excessive questioning. Malik reported it in Muwatta (2/990) in the Book of Speech, chapter on what has been said about wasting wealth. And Bukhari reported it in Adab al-Mufrad (157, no. 442), on extravagance with wealth.
