حدثنا حجين حدثنا الليث بن سعد عن أبي الزبير عن يحيى بن جعدة
يا رسول الله أي الصدقة أفضل قال جهد المقل وابدأ بمن تعول
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Suyuti related it in Jami Saghir with the wording, "The best charity is the effort of one who has little," and, "Begin with those you support," related by Abu Dawud and Hakim from Abu Hurairah, and Suyuti marked it as sahih.
