Abdullah bin Umar reported,

I saw Saad bin Abu Waqqas wiping over his leather socks in Iraq when he performed ablution, and I objected to that. When we gathered at the home of Umar bin Khattab , Saad said to me, "Ask your father about what you objected to regarding my wiping over the leather socks."So I mentioned it to him, and he said, "If Saad tells you something, do not contradict him, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wipe over the leather socks."

حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا ابن لهيعة عن أبي النضر عن أبي سلمة

عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنه أنه قال

رأيت سعد بن أبي وقاص يمسح على خفيه بالعراق حين يتوضأ فأنكرت ذلك عليه قال فلما اجتمعنا عند عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه قال لي سل أباك عما أنكرت علي من مسح الخفين قال فذكرت ذلك له فقال إذا حدثك سعد بشيء فلا ترد عليه فإن رسول الله ﷺ كان يمسح على الخفين
