The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade wearing a ring on this finger or this one, meaning the middle finger and the index finger. Jabir, that is al-Jufi, said, "It is the middle finger, without any doubt."

Its isnad is sahih. Abu Burda bin Abu Musa Ashari is a trustworthy successor (tabii) who narrates from his father and from Ali. Hadith 586 has already passed with his narration from his father from Ali, so perhaps he heard it from both of them, or he related it here without a full chain and connected it there.As for Shuba's statement, "and Jabir said," and so on, this is a daif corroboration, due to the weakness of Jabir Jafi.
