The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever keeps a dog that is not used for guarding crops, hunting, or tending livestock will have a qirat deducted from his reward each day."Sulaym said, "I think he also said, 'A qirat is like the size of Mount Uhud.'"
حدثنا عفان حدثنا سليم بن حيان قال سمعت
عن النبي ﷺ قال من اتخذ كلبا ليس بكلب زرع ولا صيد ولا ماشية فإنه ينقص من أجره كل يوم قيراط قال سليم وأحسبه قد قال والقيراط مثل أحد
Its isnad is sahih. Sulaym, with a fatha on the sin and a kasra on the lam, and Hayan, with a fatha on the ha and a ya, both he and his father are reliable narrators.
