Food was brought to the Prophet ﷺ at Marr al-Zahran, and he said to Abu Bakr and Umar, "Come close and eat."They replied, "We are fasting."He said, "Prepare the mounts for your companions. Work for your companions."
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Umar bin Saad Abu Dawud Hafari, with a fatha on its first letter, was named after Hafr, a place in Kufa. He narrated from Malik bin Mughul and Thawri, and Ahmad, Abd, and many others narrated from him. Ibn Madini said, "I do not know that I ever saw anyone in Kufa more devout than him." Abu Hamdun Muqri said, "We suspected him of something, so we left his house open with nothing in it." Waki said, "If anyone in his time is to be given precedence, it should be him." He died in the year 203.
