One of Marwan's daughters-in-law passed away, and people attended her funeral, including Abu Hurairah. With her were women who were weeping, so Marwan ordered them to stop.Abu Hurairah said, "Leave them be, for a funeral procession once passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with weeping women accompanying it. Umar, may Allah have mercy on him, rebuked them, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'Leave them, for the soul is stricken, the eye sheds tears, and the loss is fresh.'"
حدثنا محمد بن بشر حدثنا هشام بن عروة حدثني وهب بن كيسان عن محمد بن عمرو بن عطاء
توفي بعض كنائن مروان فشهدها الناس وشهدها أبو هريرة ومعها نساء يبكين فأمرهن مروان فقال أبو هريرة دعهن فإنه مر على رسول الله ﷺ جنازة معها بواك فنهرهن عمر رحمه الله فقال له رسول الله ﷺ دعهن فإن النفس مصابة والعين دامعة والعهد حديث
