Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Fatimah to him, he sent along with her a velvet cloth, a leather cushion stuffed with palm fibers, two millstones, a waterskin, and two jugs.One day Ali said to Fatimah , "By Allah, I have drawn water until my chest hurts. Allah has brought your father some captives, so go and ask him to give you a servant."She replied, "And I, by Allah, have ground grain until my hands are blistered."So she went to the Prophet ﷺ, and he asked, "What brings you here, my little daughter?"She said, "I came to greet you with peace." She felt too shy to ask him, so she went back.Ali asked, "What did you do?"She said, "I was too shy to ask him."So we both went to him together, and Ali said, "Messenger of Allah , by Allah, I have drawn water until my chest hurts."Fatimah said, "I have ground grain until my hands are blistered. Allah has brought you captives and ease, so give us a servant."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Allah, I will not give either of you anything while I leave the people of the Suffah folding their bellies in hunger, having nothing to spend on them. Rather, I will sell these captives and spend their price on the people of the Suffah."So they returned. Then the Prophet ﷺ came to them after they had gotten under their blanket. When it covered their heads, their feet were uncovered, and when they covered their feet, their heads were uncovered. They sprang up, but he said, "Stay where you are."Then he said, "Shall I not tell you of something better than what you asked me for?"They replied, "Yes."He said, "Words that Jibreel taught me. Say SubhanAllah ten times after every prayer, Alhamdulillah ten times, and Allahu Akbar ten times. And when you go to your bed, say SubhanAllah thirty-three times, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar thirty-four times."Ali said, "By Allah, I have not abandoned them since the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught them to me."Ibn al-Kawwa said to him, "Not even on the night of Siffin?"He replied, "May Allah fight you, people of Iraq. Yes, not even on the night of Siffin."

عن علي رضي الله عنه

أن رسول الله ﷺ لما زوجه فاطمة بعث معه بخميلة ووسادة من أدم حشوها ليف ورحيين وسقاء وجرتين فقال علي لفاطمة رضي الله عنهما ذات يوم والله لقد سنوت حتى لقد اشتكيت صدري قال وقد جاء الله أباك بسبي فاذهبي فاستخدميه فقالت وأنا والله قد طحنت حتى مجلت يداي فأتت النبي ﷺ فقال ما جاء بك أي بنية قالت جئت لأسلم عليك واستحيا أن تسأله ورجعت فقال ما فعلت قالت استحييت أن أسأله فأتيناه جميعا فقال علي رضي الله عنه يا رسول الله والله لقد سنوت حتى اشتكيت صدري وقالت فاطمة رضي الله عنها قد طحنت حتى مجلت يداي وقد جاءك الله بسبي وسعة فأخدمنا فقال رسول الله ﷺ والله لا أعطيكما وأدع أهل الصفة تطو بطونهم لا أجد ما أنفق عليهم ولكني أبيعهم وأنفق عليهم أثمانهم فرجعا فأتاهما النبي ﷺ وقد دخلا في قطيفتهما إذا غطت رءوسهما تكشفت أقدامهما وإذا غطيا أقدامهما تكشفت رءوسهما فثارا فقال مكانكما ثم قال ألا أخبركما بخير مما سألتماني قالا بلى فقال كلمات علمنيهن جبريل عليه السلام فقال تسبحان في دبر كل صلاة عشرا وتحمدان عشرا وتكبران عشرا وإذا أويتما إلى فراشكما فسبحا ثلاثا وثلاثين واحمدا ثلاثا وثلاثين وكبرا أربعا وثلاثين قال فوالله ما تركتهن منذ علمنيهن رسول الله ﷺ قال فقال له ابن الكواء ولا ليلة صفين فقال قاتلكم الله يا أهل العراق نعم ولا ليلة صفين
