The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Khidr was named so only because he once sat upon a white patch of dry grass, and behold, it began to quiver and turned green." The "farwah" refers to white grass and the like.Abdullah said, "I think this is an explanation from Abdul-Razzaq."

قال رسول الله ﷺ لم يسم خضرا إلا أنه جلس على فروة بيضاء فإذا هي تهتز خضراء الفروة الحشيش الأبيض وما يشبهه قال عبد الله أظن هذا تفسيرا من عبد الرزاق
