The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Sometimes I return home and find a date lying on my bed or in my house, so I pick it up to eat it. Then I fear that it may be from charity, so I throw it down and do not eat it."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ إني لأنقلب إلى أهلي فأجد التمرة ساقطة على فراشي أو في بيتي فأرفعها لآكلها ثم أخشى أن تكون صدقة فألقيها ولا آكلها
This is also sahih, and it is in the separate manuscript, numbered 94, positioned after the following hadith, 8192. Muslim related it [3:117 s/1: Bulaq] through the route of the manuscript from Abdul-Razzaq, and Bukhari related it 5:63 [Fath], through the route of Abdullah bin Mubarak from Mamar, see also 8036.As for his statement "then I fear it may be charity," in the separate manuscript it reads "that it might be from charity." Muslim combined the two versions, "that it be charity or from charity."As for his statement "and I do not eat it," it is not mentioned in the separate manuscript, nor in the two versions of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), nor in Jami al-Masanid. However, it is established in the manuscript and printed sources of the Musnad.
