The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every wound a Muslim receives in the path of Allah will appear on the Day of Resurrection just as it was at the moment it was inflicted, gushing with blood. Its color will be the color of blood, but its scent will be the scent of musk."My father said, "By arf he means the fragrance."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ كل كلم يكلمه المسلم في سبيل الله ثم يكون يوم القيامة كهيئتها إذا طعنت تنفجر دما اللون لون الدم والعرف عرف المسك قال أبي يعني العرف الريح
This is a sahih hadith. It is in the Sahifah Mufradah, number 92. Muslim narrated it through the route of the Sahifah, from the narration of Abdul-Razzaq [6:34 S/2:96 Bulaq]. Bukhari also narrated it through this route, but from the narration of Abdullah bin Mubarak, from Mamar [1:56-57 T/1:297 Fath].His statement, "then it will be" - the word "then" is not mentioned in the Sahifah Mufradah nor in Bukhari's narration, but it is established in the original copies of the Musnad and in Muslim's narration. His statement, "like its former state" - Hafiz said in the Fath, he restored the pronoun in the feminine form intending the wound.The hadith has already appeared with a similar meaning at 7300, from the narration of Araj from Abu Hurairah, and its meaning has already appeared within a longer hadith at 7157, from the narration of Abu Zura from Abu Hurairah.
