The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Would any one of you rejoice over his riding camel if it strayed from him and then he found it again?"They said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, Allah rejoices more over the repentance of His servant when he repents than any one of you would over his riding camel when he finds it."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ أيفرح أحدكم براحلته إذا ضلت منه ثم وجدها قالوا نعم يا رسول الله قال والذي نفس محمد بيده لله أشد فرحا بتوبة عبده إذا تاب من أحدكم براحلته إذا وجدها
This hadith is sahih, and it appears in al-Sahifah al-Mufradah under number 79. Muslim narrated it [8:91–92 S / 2:322 Bulaq] through the route of al-Sahifah, but he did not mention its wording. Rather, he mentioned before it the narration of al-Araj from Abu Hurairah, as a raised hadith, "Allah rejoices more at the repentance of one of you than one of you rejoices at finding his lost animal." Then he mentioned the chain of al-Sahifah and said, "With the same meaning." Bukhari did not narrate it at all from the hadith of Abu Hurairah. However, Muslim narrated before that [2:322 Bulaq] from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that he said, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said, "I am as My servant thinks of Me, and I am with him when he remembers Me. By Allah, Allah rejoices more at the repentance of His servant than one of you rejoices when finding his lost animal in the open desert..." He then related the rest of the hadith.This hadith was narrated by Bukhari, 13:325–328 Fath, through the narration of Abu Salih. He mentioned its beginning and its end but did not mention its middle portion, which contains the mention of rejoicing at repentance. This hadith of Abu Salih will come later in the Musnad at numbers 10792 and 10922. The hadith on repentance that concerns us here will come with similar wording at 10504, through the narration of Musa bin Yasar, from Abu Hurairah.
