The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "In the human body there is a bone that the earth will never consume. From it a person will be reassembled on the Day of Resurrection."They asked, "Which bone is it?"He replied, "The tailbone."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ إن في الإنسان عظما لا تأكله الأرض أبدا فيه يركب يوم القيامة قالوا أي عظم هو قال عجم الذنب
This is also sahih, and it is in al-Sahifa al-Mufradah, number 67. Muslim related it [8:210 S / 2:383 Bulaq] through the route of al-Sahifa, but Bukhari did not relate it through that route, nor did he relate it as an independent hadith. Rather, he related something similar to it as part of a hadith from the narration of Abu Salih from Abu Hurairah, 424, 529 Fath. It will also come in the Musnad at 8266, 9524 through the route of the copy of al-Araj, and it will also come at 10482, 10483 from the narration of Abu Iyad, from Abu Hurairah. In Muslim's version, it reads "which bone is it, O Messenger of Allah," with the addition of "O Messenger of Allah," which is not found in the copies of the Musnad nor in Jami al-Masanid. In al-Sahifa al-Mufradah it reads "which bone, O Messenger of Allah," with "it" omitted. As for his saying "ajm al-dhanab" (the base of the tail), in Muslim's version and in Jami al-Masanid it is "ajb" with a ba instead of a mim. In al-Sahifa al-Mufradah, following the hadith, it says, Abu Hasan said, "It is really ajb, but he said it with a mim." Abu Hasan is the hafiz Ahmad bin Yusuf al-Sulami, the narrator of al-Sahifa al-Mufradah from Abdul-Razzaq. It appears that al-Sulami did not have access to confirmation that this letter with a mim was correct, but it is in fact sahih.Ajb al-dhanab, with the ayn either open or with damma, and the jim carrying sukun, and ending in a single-dotted ba, is the base of the tail and its bone that is embedded at the rear of the rump. And with a mim instead of a ba, it is also sahih. Al-Jawhari said in al-Sahah, "al-ajm is the base of the tail, like al-ajb." Likewise in al-Qamus, and it adds the permissibility of damma on the ayn as well, as in al-ajb, and its commentator relates from al-Lahyani that its mim is a substitute for the ba of ajb and ajb. In al-Misbah, "al-ajm is also the base of the tail, a variant of al-ajb."So the correction made here by the hafiz al-Sulami is of no real consequence, and both forms of the word are sahih.
