The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the call to prayer is made, Satan turns away, breaking wind, so that he will not hear the call. Once the call is finished, he returns. Then when the second call is given, he turns away again, and once that call is finished, he returns and casts thoughts between a man and his own mind, saying to him, 'Remember this, remember that,' bringing up things he had not been thinking of before, until the man ends up not knowing how he prayed."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ إذا نودي بالصلاة أدبر الشيطان وله ضراط حتى لا يسمع التأذين فإذا قضي التأذين أقبل حتى إذا ثوب بها أدبر حتى إذا قضي التثويب أقبل حتى يخطر بين المرء ونفسه فيقول له اذكر كذا اذكر كذا لما لم يكن يذكر من قبل حتى يظل الرجل إن يدري كيف صلى
It is sahih like the rest of the Sahifa, and it is in the Sahifa Mufrada, number 26. Muslim narrated it [2:15 / 1:441 Bulaq] through the route of the Sahifa, but he did not mention its wording, referring instead to his narration from the copy of Araj. Bukhari did not narrate it through the route of the Sahifa but rather narrated it through other channels, at length and in brief [2:69, and 3:72, 83, and 6:242 Fath]. It will come again through other channels, at length and in brief, at 9159, 9325, 9933, 10550, 10888. Ibn Hibban narrated it in his Sahih, 15, in our edition, at length, through another channel. Hafiz bin Kathir mentioned it in the tafsir, 3:185, without mentioning the companion, and noted that it is agreed upon. See Umdat Tafsir, 4:182.Tathwib here - Ibn Athir said, it means the iqama of the prayer. The origin of tathwib is that a man would come calling for help and wave his garment, so that he would be seen and noticed. So the call was named tathwib for that reason.
