The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that a man once carried wine with him on a ship to sell, and he had a monkey with him. Whenever the man sold the wine, he would mix it with water and then sell it.The monkey took the money pouch and climbed up to the top of the mast. It began throwing one Dinar into the sea and one Dinar into the ship until it had divided the money in half.

Its isnad is sahih. It will also come again at 8408, 9271, and Munziri mentioned it in Targheeb wa Tarheeb 2303, saying, Tabarani related it in his Mujam al-Kabir. Bayhaqi also related it, and I do not know of any discredited narrator among its transmitters.Daqal, with the dal and qaf both having fatha. Ibn Athir said, it is the piece of wood on which the sail of the ship is spread, which sailors call the sari (mast).
