When the Prophet ﷺ began the prayer, he would say the takbir, then say, "I have turned my face toward the One who created the heavens and the earth, as a pure monotheist, and I am not among those who associate partners with Him. Indeed, my prayer, my rites of worship, my life, and my death belong to Allah, Lord of the worlds, who has no partner. With this I have been commanded, and I am among the first to submit. O Allah, You are the King, there is no god but You. You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me all my sins, for none forgives sins but You. O Allah, guide me to the best of character, for none guides to the best of it but You, and turn away from me its evil, for none turns away its evil from me but You. Here I am at Your service, all goodness is in Your hands, and evil is not attributed to You. I rely upon You and turn to You. Blessed and exalted are You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance."When he bowed, he would say, "O Allah, to You I have bowed, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. My hearing, my sight, my mind, my bones, and my sinews are humbled before You."When he raised his head, he would say, "Allah hears whoever praises Him. Our Lord, to You belongs all praise, filling the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and filling whatever else You will."When he prostrated, he would say, "O Allah, to You I have prostrated, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. My face has prostrated to the One who created it and shaped it, perfecting its form, and who opened in it hearing and sight. Blessed is Allah, the best of creators."When he finished the prayer and gave the salam, he would say, "O Allah, forgive me what I have done before and what I will do later, what I have concealed and what I have made known, where I have gone to excess, and what You know better than I. You are the One who brings forward and the One who puts back, there is no god but You."Abdullah said, It has reached us from Ishaq bin Rahawayh, from Nadr bin Shumayl, that he said regarding this hadith, "and evil is not attributed to You," meaning that evil is not something through which one draws near to You.
Its chain is sahih (813). Hashim bin Qasim is Abu Nadr. This hadith is a repetition of 729, and this has already been noted there. At the end of this narration comes Nadr bin Shumayl's explanation of the phrase in the hadith, "and evil is not attributed to You," taken from the narration of Abdullah bin Ahmad, who transmitted it as a report reaching him.As for the phrase "turn its evil away from me," it appears this way in manuscript J, without the conjunction "and," while in manuscripts K and H the conjunction is included. But omitting it is the correct reading in this narration, because after it he goes on to mention the narration of Hujayn, and states explicitly that his version includes the conjunction, in order to show the difference between the two narrations.
