Abu Hurairah met a woman and noticed a fine fragrance trailing from her.Abu Hurairah asked her, "Are you heading to the mosque?"She replied, "Yes."He asked, "Did you put on perfume for it?"She said, "Yes."Abu Hurairah then said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'No woman who perfumes herself for the mosque will have her prayer accepted by Allah until she washes herself the way she washes from major ritual impurity.' So go and wash yourself."
Its chain of transmission is daif, due to the weakness of Asim bin Ubaydullah bin Asim bin Umar bin Khattab. This hadith has already appeared as 7350, from Sufyan, who is Ibn Uyayna, from Asim, from the freedman of Ibn Abu Rahm, whose name was not mentioned there but is mentioned here as Ubayd. We have already explained its routes of transmission and pointed out this particular route there. We also mentioned that the hadith is sahih through another route.Consider, O Muslim man, and consider, O Muslim woman, this strictness from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding a woman going out perfumed intending to go to the masjid for the worship of her Lord. Her prayer will not be accepted from her unless she washes off the perfume like the washing of janaba, until the trace of the perfume disappears.Look at this, and at what the shameless, immoral, wanton women of our age do, women who falsely and dishonestly claim affiliation with Islam, aided by immoral men who are bold against Allah and His Messenger and against the self-evident truths of Islam. They all claim there is no harm in a woman's unveiling, in her going out uncovered and brazen, and in her mixing with men in markets and places of amusement and immorality. They all dare to claim that Islam never forbade mixing for women, never forbade her from holding public positions, never forbade her from traveling on what they call scientific missions, and they even permit her to take up political office. Indeed, look at the sight of these immoral women in the markets and streets, having uncovered the private parts that Allah and His Messenger commanded them to cover. You see a woman with her head uncovered, flaunting herself shamelessly, her breasts exposed, her chest and back exposed, her armpits and what lies beneath them exposed, wearing clothes that cover nothing, clothes that are transparent and reveal what is beneath them, displaying it in the most alluring form possible.Indeed, we see these evils in broad daylight during the month of Ramadan. They feel no shame, nor do the men whom Allah has made responsible for them feel any shame, men who are not truly men at all but shameless panders who tolerate disgrace among their own women! Then after all this we ask, are these people, men and women alike, Muslims?
