The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man may speak a word, intending no harm by it, that causes him to plunge seventy autumns down into the Fire."
حدثنا محمد بن أبي عدي عن محمد بن إسحاق قال حدثني محمد بن إبراهيم عن عيسى بن طلحة
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن الرجل ليتكلم بالكلمة لا يريد بها بأسا يهوي بها سبعين خريفا في النار
Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Abu Adi is Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Abu Adi. In H it appears as "Muhammad bin Adi," with [Abu] omitted. This is an error, which we have corrected from the manuscripts. This hadith has already appeared with this isnad at 7214, where we pointed this out. See also what follows at 8392.
