The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Quraysh, the Ansar, Juhaynah, Mazina, Aslam, Ghifar, and Ashja are allies who have no ally other than Allah and His Messenger."
حدثنا يزيد أنبأنا المسعودي عن سعد بن إبراهيم عن عبد الرحمن بن هرمز
قال رسول الله ﷺ قريش والأنصار وجهينة ومزينة وأسلم وغفار وأشجع موالي ليس لهم مولى دون الله ورسوله
Its isnad is sahih. Masudi is Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Utbah. Bukhari related the hadith in 6:389, 395 from Abu Naeem, from Sufyan Thawri, from Saad bin Ibrahim, with the same wording, and Muslim related it in 20:268 from Ibn Numayr, from his father, from Thawri.As for his saying, "mawali," Hafiz said, with the doubling of the ya, it is attributed to the Prophet ﷺ, meaning "my Ansari," and this is the fitting reading here, though "mawla" has several meanings. It is also transmitted with the ya un-doubled, with the noun it is attached to omitted, meaning "the mawali of Allah and His Messenger," and this is supported by his saying, "They have no mawla besides Allah and His Messenger."As for the reading with the ya un-doubled that Hafiz mentioned, we do not know where it comes from. In the Yuniniyyah there is only the doubled ya, and no manuscript of Sahih Muslim mentions anything other than that.
