Its isnad is sahih. Awf is Ibn Abu Jamila Arabi. The hadith is similar to the report of Salim bin Abu Jaad. It appears that the similarity is in meaning, not wording, for I have never found it with this exact wording anywhere except in this passage, in this summarized form.Its meaning has already appeared at 7283 through the narration of Abu Salama from Abu Hurairah, as a saying of the Prophet, with the wording, "Tasbih is for men, and tasfih is for women," and at 7541 through the narration of Abu Salih from Abu Hurairah, with the wording "tasfiq" in place of "tasfih." It will also come at 8878 through the narration of Ataa from Abu Hurairah with the wording of Abu Salama's narration, and it will come at 8189 in the Sahifah of Hammam bin Munabbih with the wording, "Tasbih is for the group, and tasfiq is for women, in prayer."What supports the view we have taken is that Imam Ahmad did not narrate it from the hadith of Abu Hurairah with the wording of Salim bin Abu Jaad's report, except in this summarized narration resembling it, namely that the hadith will come at 9583 from Yahya bin Saeed, from Awf, who said, Muhammad [that is, Ibn Sirin] narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah and Hasan, from the Prophet, who said, "Tasbih is for men, and tasfiq is for women." So this Awf narrates it from Ibn Sirin, from Abu Hurairah, as a saying of the Prophet, and he narrates it from Hasan, as a stopped report with a broken chain, using the wording that is preserved for the hadith of Abu Hurairah.
