Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Bakr Barsani, with the ba pronounced with damma, was previously verified as reliable at 1724, and we add here that Ibn Saad gave his biography at 7/2/49, and Ibn Abu Hatim at 3/2/212.Jafar bin Barqan, with the ba pronounced with damma, was previously verified as reliable at 3269, 6100, and we add here that Ibn Saad gave his biography at 7/2/181, and Ibn Abu Hatim at 1/1/474-485.Yazid bin Asam was previously verified as reliable at 1839, and we add here that Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir at 4/2/318, Ibn Saad at 7/2/178-179, and Ibn Abu Hatim at 4/2/252. In H it occurred as "Yazid ana Asam," as though it meant to abbreviate "akhbarana," but this is an error, and the correct reading is "bin," as we have established it.The hadith was narrated by Muslim at 2:280 and Ibn Majah at 4143, both of them by way of Kathir bin Hisham, from Jafar bin Barqan, with this same isnad.
