The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade meeting caravans of imported goods on the way. If anyone meets them and makes a purchase, the seller retains the option to revoke the sale once he reaches the market.
حدثنا إبراهيم بن خالد حدثنا رباح حدثنا معمر عن أيوب عن ابن سيرين
أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن تلقي الأجلاب فمن تلقى واشترى فصاحبه بالخيار إذا هبط السوق
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim (1:444) narrated it through Ibn Jurayj, from Hisham the Firdawsi, from Ibn Sirin. It is also found in Al-Muntaqa (2842), where it is stated, "Reported by the whole group except Bukhari." It will also come later at 9225 and 10329. See also 7303.Al-ajlab is the plural of jalab (with two fathahs). As Qadi Iyad said in Al-Mashariq (1:149), it refers to what is brought from the countryside into the towns, such as foodstuffs and the like, which should not be intercepted before reaching the markets.
