I saw Abu Hurayrah pass by a group of people performing ablution from a water vessel, and he said, "Perform the ablution well, may Allah have mercy on you. Have you not heard what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said? 'Woe to the heels from the Fire.'"
Its isnad is sahih. It is a repetition of 7122, and a longer version of 7778.Al-mit-hara, with the mim vowelled as "i", means the vessel used for performing ablution. It is said in al-Misbah that pronouncing it with "a" is also a valid form. Jawhari said in al-Sahah that the form with "a" is more common.
