The Prophet ﷺ said, "I seek Allah's forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times each day."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال معمر عن الزهري عن أبي سلمة
عن النبي ﷺ قال إني لأستغفر الله في اليوم أكثر من سبعين مرة وأتوب إليه
Its isnad is sahih, and it appears in Jami al-Masanid wal-Sunan 7:461-462, drawn from this very place. Bukhari related it, 11:85, by way of Shuayb, from Zuhri, with this same isnad, similarly. Tirmidhi related it, 18, from Ubayd bin Humayd, from Abdul-Razzaq, with this same isnad, and he added at the beginning that it is a tafsir of the words of Allah Almighty, "and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women", and this is the tafsir of Abdul-Razzaq, in the tafsir of verse 19 of Surah Muhammad ﷺ, with this same isnad. But the apparent sense of its wording is that treating it as a tafsir of the verse was from the words of Maamar, and this will come at 8474, the narration of Layth from Yazid, from Zuhri.
