The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The previously married woman must be consulted for her command, and the virgin must be asked for her permission."They asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is her permission?"He replied, "Her silence."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق حدثنا معمر عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال تستأمر الثيب وتستأذن البكر قالوا وما إذنها يا رسول الله قال تسكت
Its isnad is sahih. It has already passed with similar wording at 7398 through the route of Hajjaj bin Abu Uthman, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, with this same isnad. Its meaning has also already passed, both at length and in abridged form, through two other routes from Abu Salama at 7131 and 7519. Muslim related it in 1:400, through many routes, one of which is this same route, through Abdul-Razzaq, from Maamar.
