I have not seen anything more closely resembling the minor sins than what Abu Hurairah reported from the Prophet ﷺ, "Allah has decreed for the son of Adam his share of fornication, which he will inevitably commit. The fornication of the eye is the gaze, the fornication of the tongue is speech, and the soul wishes and desires, while the private parts either confirm all that or deny it."
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Abdul-Razzaq also related it in his tafsir, in the tafsir of Surah Najm, with this same chain, then he related it from Maamar from Hammam, from Abu Hurairah, similar to the hadith of Ibn Tawus from his father. It will come again in the Suhayfah of Hammam bin Munabbih, 8199, and its meaning will come again through many chains and from various routes on the authority of Abu Hurairah, at length and in brief, at 8338, 8507, 8520, 8582, 8830, 8919, 9930, 9559, 10841, 10924, 10933.Ibn Kathir quoted it in his Tafsir, 8:114, from this very passage of the Musnad. A strange printing error occurred in it, "Maamar bin Atrah told us." This addition, "Ibn Atrah," is an error that makes no sense at all. Ibn Kathir then said, Bukhari and Muslim both related it in the Sahihayn from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq with this chain. It appears in Bukhari, 11:21-22, and Muslim, 2:301, both by way of Abdul-Razzaq. Suyuti also attributed it to Abu Dawud and Nasai, as noted in al-Fath al-Kabir, 1:341.See also what has already passed in the Musnad of Ibn Masud, 3912.
