The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have a right over Quraysh, and Quraysh have a right over you so long as they judge with justice when they rule, fulfill their trust when entrusted, and show mercy when mercy is sought from them."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق حدثنا معمر عن ابن أبي ذئب عن سعيد المقبري
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن لي على قريش حقا وإن لقريش عليكم حقا ما حكموا فعدلوا وأتمنوا فأدوا واسترحموا فرحموا
Its isnad is sahih. It is found in Majma al-Zawaid 5:192. He said, Ahmad and Tabarani in al-Awsat narrated it, and the men of Ahmad's narration are the men of the Sahih. A similar meaning will come later, from the hadith of Anas bin Malik, 12334, 12931.
