The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "One who kills a disbeliever and then remains steadfast afterward will not be gathered together with that disbeliever in the Fire."
حدثنا أبو كامل حدثنا حماد عن سهيل بن أبي صالح عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا يجتمع في النار من قتل كافرا ثم سدد بعده
Its chain of transmission is sahih. In H it occurs as, "Suhayl, from Abu Salih, from his father," but this is an error, for Abu Salih is the narrator from Abu Hurairah. In M it occurs as, "Suhayl, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah," omitting "from his father," and this is correct. What we have adopted is what appears in K, and it is also sahih, as is clear. The hadith will come at greater length at 8460, narrated by Muhammad bin Ajlan from Suhayl, with this chain. Hakim also related it in Mustadrak 2:72, likewise at greater length, narrated by Muhammad bin Ajlan from Suhayl, and he said, "This is a hadith that is sahih according to the criteria of Muslim, though the two of them did not include it." Dhahabi agreed with him.Muslim related it, 2:99, narrated by Abu Ishaq Fazari from Suhayl, and his version is slightly longer than this one. See the commentary on the preceding hadith, 7474.
