The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "For the traveler, three days and their nights, and for the resident, one day and one night."
حدثنا يزيد عن الحجاج عن أبي إسحاق عن علي بن ربيعة عن علي رضي الله عنه عن النبي ﷺ بمثله
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ali bin Rabia is al-Walibi, and he is a trustworthy successor. This hadith is a shortened version of the one before it. I am almost inclined to think that this chain of transmission has been shifted in the copies of the Musnad from its proper place, and that it is a duplicate following on from the coming hadith 753, for I have never found any narration from Ali bin Rabia concerning wiping over leather socks, and this chain seems to me more fitting for the chain of 753. But I do not dare to assert this with certainty unless I find proof and evidence, for speaking about matters of chains of transmission is a serious matter.
