Shurayh bin Hani reported,
I asked Ayesha 
about wiping over leather socks. She said, "Ask Ali, for he knows more about this than I do. He used to travel with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."So I asked Ali 
, and he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'For the traveler, three days and their nights, and for the resident, one day and one night.'"

عن شريح بن هانئ قال
سألت عائشة رضي الله عنها عن المسح على الخفين فقالت سل عليا فإنه أعلم بهذا مني كان يسافر مع رسول الله ﷺ قال فسألت عليا رضي الله عنه فقال قال رسول الله ﷺ للمسافر ثلاثة أيام ولياليهن وللمقيم يوم وليلة
Its isnad is sahih. Yazid is Ibn Harun Wasiti, one of the great scholars and memorizers. Hajjaj is Ibn Artah Kufi, the judge, and he is trustworthy. Qasim bin Mukhaymara is a trustworthy tabii. Shurayh bin Hani is a trustworthy tabii who lived through both the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras. The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1:11, and in Muntaqa, 307, it states that Nasai and Ibn Majah also narrated it.
