The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No wealth has ever benefited me as much as the wealth of Abu Bakr."Abu Bakr wept and said, "Am I and my wealth anything but yours, Messenger of Allah?"
Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Majah also related it, number 94, from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba and Ali bin Muhammad, who both said, Abu Muawiya narrated to us, Amash narrated to us from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, in the same way.Busiri said in his Zawaid, "There is something questionable about its isnad going back to Abu Hurairah, because Sulayman bin Mihran Amash practices tadlis, and so does Abu Muawiya, except that he explicitly said 'he narrated to us,' which removes the tadlis, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy." This reasoning of his is neither good nor sound. For, as he himself said, both Abu Muawiya and Amash explicitly stated "he narrated to us" in Ibn Majah's version. So there is no room left for objection, and this isnad cannot then be described as having something questionable in it.Furthermore, the narration of Abu Muawiya from Amash from Abu Salih is sahih according to the standard of the two Sahihs, and the two Sahihs have related much material with this very isnad. Beyond all this, Abu Muawiya was not alone in relating it from Amash, as will be shown later, Allah willing.Ibn Hibban related it in his Sahih, 2:221 [from the photocopied edition of Taqasim wal-Anwa], from Abu Khalifa, from Musaddad, from Abu Muawiya, in the same way.Khatib related its beginning, without mentioning Abu Bakr's weeping, in Tarikh Baghdad, 12:125, by way of Abbas bin Hammad Baghdadi from Abu Muawiya. He also related it in full, 10:263–264, by way of Ahmad bin Abdul-Jabbar Attaridi, from Abu Bakr bin Ayyash, from Amash, in the same way.It will also come, in similar wording but longer than here, at 8776, from Abu Ishaq Fazari, from Amash, with this same isnad.Suyuti mentioned its beginning in Jami Saghir, 8119, attributing it to Ahmad and Ibn Majah, and marked it with the symbol for hasan. His commentator Munawi added that Abu Yaala also related it, then said, "Haythami said, its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Ishaq bin Abu Israil, who is trustworthy and reliable." But this hadith does not fall under the scope of Haythami's Zawaid, and I have not found it there, so I do not know where he mentioned it.Muhibb Tabari mentioned it in full in Riyad Nadira, 1:86, and said, "Ahmad, Abu Hatim, Ibn Majah, and Hafiz Dimashqi in Muwafaqat have all recorded it."
