The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Give in charity."A man said, "I have a Dinar."He said, "Spend it on yourself."The man said, "I have another Dinar."He said, "Spend it on your wife."The man said, "I have another Dinar."He said, "Spend it on your child."The man said, "I have another Dinar."He said, "Spend it on your servant."The man said, "I have another Dinar."He said, "You know best where to put it."
حدثنا يحيى عن ابن عجلان عن سعيد
قال رسول الله ﷺ تصدقوا قال رجل عندي دينار قال تصدق به على نفسك قال عندي دينار آخر قال تصدق به على زوجك قال عندي دينار آخر قال تصدق به على ولدك قال عندي دينار آخر قال تصدق به على خادمك قال عندي دينار آخر قال أنت أبصر
Its chain of transmission is sahih. It will come again with this same chain at 10088, and Nasai narrated it in 1:351 from Amr bin Ali and Muhammad bin Muthanna, from Yahya, that is, Qattan, from Ibn Ajlan, with this chain.Abu Dawud narrated it at 1691 [Awn al-Mabud 2:59], through the route of Sufyan, from Ibn Ajlan, with it. Likewise, Hakim narrated it in Mustadrak 1:415, through the route of Sufyan, from Ibn Ajlan, and said, "This is a hadith sahih according to the standard of Muslim, and the two of them did not include it." Dhahabi agreed with him.Munziri mentioned it in Targheeb 1:81, and attributed it to Ibn Hibban in his Sahih only.
