A man asked, "How much water is enough for washing my head in the ritual bath after major impurity?"He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pour water with his hand over his head three times."The man said, "But my hair is thick."He answered, "The hair of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was thicker and more fragrant."
Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Majah 578 also narrated it through Abu Khalid Ahmar, from Ibn Ajlan, with this isnad, in similar wording. Haythami mentioned it in Majma al-Zawaid 1:270 and said, "Bazzar and Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih." But this is not among the additional narrations, since Ibn Majah narrated it as you can see, so this should be noted as a correction to Hafiz Haythami. See what has already appeared in Musnad Ibn Abbas 2628, and what will come in Musnad Abu Saeed 11530, 11717, and in Musnad Jabir 14158, 14237, 14482, 15034, 15081, 15098, 15113.
