Its isnad is sahih. Abu Bakr Ansari is Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin Amr bin Hazm. Abu Bakr Makhzumi is Abu Bakr bin Abdul-Rahman bin Harith bin Hisham. Their lineages were mentioned in the narrations of Tirmidhi, Nasai, and Ibn Majah.The hadith was narrated by Tirmidhi [number 574 in our commentary] 1:398, from Qutayba bin Saeed. Nasai narrated it 1:152 from Muhammad bin Mansur, and also from Qutayba. Ibn Majah narrated it 1059 from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba. All of them narrated it from Sufyan bin Uyayna, with this isnad. Tirmidhi did not mention its wording, but instead referred back to another isnad preceding it, which we will point out, Allah willing. Ibn Majah did not mention "and recite" at the end of it.Tirmidhi said, The hadith of Abu Hurairah is hasan sahih. Then he said, In this hadith there are four generations of Followers, one narrating from another, meaning Yahya Ansari, Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin Amr, Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, and Abu Bakr bin Harith.Ibn Majah said, Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba said, This hadith, from the hadith of Yahya bin Saeed, I have not heard anyone mention besides him, meaning besides Sufyan bin Uyayna, his teacher.The hadith was also narrated by Muslim 1:161, Abu Dawud 1:1407 [11:531 of Awn al-Mabud], Tirmidhi 1:398, and Nasai 1:152, all of them by way of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Ayub bin Musa, from Ata bin Mina, from Abu Hurairah, with similar wording.
