The narration states, "Hurry with your funerals, for if the deceased was righteous, you are advancing them toward goodness, and if otherwise, then it is an evil you are removing from your shoulders."On another occasion, he traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ, "Hurry with the funeral, for if she was righteous, it is good that you are advancing her toward."
حدثنا سفيان عن الزهري عن سعيد
رواية أسرعوا بجنائزكم فإن كان صالحا قدمتموه إليه وإن كان سوى ذلك فشر تضعونه عن رقابكم وقال مرة أخرى يبلغ به النبي ﷺ أسرعوا بالجنازة فإن تك صالحة خير تقدموها إليه
