A man from the tribe of Banu Fazarah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Prophet of Allah, my wife has given birth to a black boy," as if he were implying that he wished to disown the child.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "Do you have any camels?"He replied, "Yes."The Prophet asked, "What are their colors?"He answered, "Red."The Prophet asked, "Is there a dusky one among them?"He said, "Yes, there is a dusky one among them."The Prophet asked, "How do you account for that?"He said, "Perhaps it is due to a strain in its lineage."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "And this child too may be the result of a strain in his lineage."
حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب
أن رجلا من بني فزارة أتى النبي ﷺ فقال يا نبي الله إن امرأته ولدت غلاما أسود وكأنه يعرض أن ينتفي منه فقال له رسول الله ﷺ ألك إبل قال نعم قال ما ألوانها قال حمر قال فيها ذود أورق قال نعم فيها ذود أورق قال ومما ذاك قال لعله نزعه عرق قال رسول الله ﷺ وهذا لعله يكون نزعه عرق
Its isnad is sahih. It was reported by the group, as in Muntaqa 3786.Al-dhawd, with a fatha on the dotted dhal, a sukun on the waw, and ending in an undotted dal, refers to camels numbering between two and nine. It has also been said that it means between three and ten. Al-awraq means dusky gray.As for his saying "a vein pulled it," Qadi Iyad said in Mashariq, vol. 2, p. 9, that it means it drew him toward resemblance to whoever he came out looking like.
